A voyage of 40 years sailing together

I call me Gbengu and I call you Iwo Bayuu. Our path crossed when you came to Nubi Coaching Class in the year 1973. We spent 5 years together at Molusi College, Ijebu Igbo but came very close and became best friends at Ogun State Polytechnic. We slept on the same bed and ate from the same pot for two years. Our parents were parents to both of us. We were like a twin brother and inseparable pair. We studied same course, Town Planning and were in Buccaneer together. We enjoyed our youth to the fullest. With Bayo, there was no dull moment. Sailor wey no sabi sail water go carry am go 2x was your favorite sing song. We were at Ketu together after our NYSC in 1986. Your Andrew checked out of Nigeria to UK for a greener pastor after getting married to the love of your life Bola. You were in my rickety car which you were never ashamed to ride in before Dr Sine brought his Limo. I remember his car was so low you had to get down any time the car had to climb a bump. Separated for a while due to geographical location but reconnected again. My son who foundling bear your name came to London for the first time on your invitation. You set the pace for other black folks in London by abandoning the traditional SECURITY job for a work in the Council as a Housing Officer which you equally quited for a private business in Real Estate. You sailed the turbulent water of Nigeria and UK like a great Sealord that

ou were. The sea was rough and tides were often high but the treasure you found. You celebrated my Chair as a Professor with me in London in 2011. I thought we would be together for a long time to enjoy our old age together but I was wrong. You will be missed but will live to cherish those moments that we shared together. Sail on BA till we meet at the feet of Christ
